Nike SB Dunk releases have always had interesting creative themes interpreted into their designs. Though very few have a truly core skate theme behind them. This upcoming Nike SB Dunk Low is inspired from a iconic camera used to capture skateboarding from the mid 1990s; the VX1000 Camcorder. Sony introduced the VX1000 in 1995; a handheld device has been a mainstay in skateboard filming and photography since. It's lasted it's time, as it's still popular amongst skate videographers/photographers, despite the technology being relatively outdated. This product loyalty might be to the VX1000's dependability and its perfect fit. The round fish-eye is perfect for capturing skating in a low-fi 90s aesthetic.
The "Smoke Grey, Pure Platinum, Off Noir, Green Glow, Bright Crimson, Opti Yellow" colourway matches the VX1000, as do the various details that mirror the specs, such as the colours of a traditional stop and pause button on the eyelets, a light teal green on the heel. It also features printed text such as “WHT BAL”, “PEAK”, “SHUTTER SPEED”, “REC LEVEL” and “0:00:01” which are unique and synonymous with the VX1000.
